Wolverines fall to the Lions 7-3 in Florida

 
 

Ellwood City Wolverines watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-3 loss to Mater Academy Charter on Wednesday.  Mater Academy Charter took the lead on a double in the first inning.

Mater Academy Charter opened up scoring in the first inning.  Yodelkis Quevedo doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Ellwood City Wolverines notched three runs in the fifth inning.  The big inning was thanks to a single by Nick Magnifico and a groundout by Joseph Roth. Mater Academy Charter scored five runs in the fourth inning.  Andy Mesa, Eduardo Morales, and Dylan Fernandez all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Alex Mesa led things off on the pitcher's mound for Mater Academy Charter. The fireballer surrendered zero runs on one hit over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Magnifico toed the rubber for Ellwood City Wolverines. Magnifico went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and striking out two.  Owen Andrews threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Magnifico led Ellwood City Wolverines with two hits in three at bats. Quevedo went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mater Academy Charter in hits.
