CROSS COUNTRY

The Wolverines Cross Country team kicked off their season at the 51st Mary Uher Vulcans Invitational on Saturday from CALU. Ellwood City started the season off with a bang as the team finished 6th overal in the competition, leaning on the shoulders of Nick Wise and Drew Steffler who finished 21st and 22nd respectively. Expect experience and much maturity from the group in the upcoming season.

GOLF

Ellwood City scored well this week against three opponents, coming out 2-1 on the week. Even though they dropped a decisive decision at Castle Hills vs. Neshannock, the Wolverines bounced back with big wins against Laurel and Union to start the second half of the season, going to 6-2 (5-2). A big matchup awaits them on Wednesday as they will look to split the season with Mohawk, and keep their playoff hopes alive.

SOCCER

Soccer started the season off playing for the first time on turf at Helling Stadium, dropping a decision to Mohawk. You can watch the replay on the ECS network here!

The Wolverines also fell on the road to Hopewell Vikings and will look to bounce back next week against Beaver.

GIRLS TENNIS

The Lady Wolverines had tough back-to-back Beaver County matchups this week, dropping matches to top ranked Beaver and upcoming Blackhawk in straight sets. The tough road continues as tennis will take on one of the section favorites in Sewickely Academy and yet another Beaver County team in Central Valley.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball got under way with back-to-back five set matches against Blackhawk and Ambridge, coming out with a win and a loss. The Lady Wolverines traveled to Union on Saturday for a morning matchup where a second set momentum shift carried the Wolveriens to a straight-set victory against the Scotties. Ellwood City starts section play next week as they take on Riverside and Mohawk on the road before competing in the Moon Tournament on Saturday.
