Wolverines cannot break 2nd quarter stumble, lose to Panthers 57-33

Wolverines Fall to Riverside

A great start in the first quarter of the game 15-12 and in front of yet another packed crowd led us to believe that this game was going to end in a classic battle between the Wolverines and the Panthers. Unfortunately a sloppy 2nd quarter by the Wolverines where they managed only 2 points in the quarter led to the final result in favor of the Panthers as the Wolverines offense and defense was no match on the evening.

In a great showing, Steve Antuono scored nine points, but this was not enough as Ellwood City fell to Riverside 57-33. Even though the Wolverines added 13 points in the final quarter, it wasn't enough to overcome their opponent.

Antuono led the charge for Ellwood’s offense, scoring nine points, with four points during the fourth period. He also contributed two rebounds and one steal.

Alexander Roth put up two three-pointers and scored six points total. Also chipping in for the Wolverines were Rocco Sesti (7 points, 5 rebounds), Milo Sesti (5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals), Rick Pitrelli (3 points, 4 rebounds), and Broc Boariu (3 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block).

Ellwood City finished the game with 29 rebounds (13 offensive / 16 defensive), one block and four steals.

The Wolverines will look to bounce back against another tough opponent as they travel to Aliquippa to take on the third place Quips in 3A Section 1 play on Friday.
