Here is a good post by Mike White of PPG about next year's new system for the WPIAL Football Playoff format.

Below are some notes regarding 3A Classification, which the Wolverines are playing in the next two seasons.

  • The 2A Football Championship will be played at Heinz Field November 16th or 17th
  • 2A Classification has four conferences with 16 teams that will qualify for four weeks of playoffs
  • Top four teams from each conference will make playoffs
  • 2A has the most teams at 31 teams, which allows WPIAL to play 16 teams in playoffs

You can check out all the updated schedules, alignments, and cover pages on the WPIAL site.
