Boys Basketball: Season in Review

2017-2018 Ellwood City Wolverines (BB)

Success comes through commitment, practice, chemistry and hard work. Finishing above .500 in your respectable division is key to success throughout any season in sports. That was on display for the boys basketball team as the team played great basketball to the very last whistle this past Friday. Unfortunately, not every game ends the way we want it, but just being part of something greater means great things to come.

The Wolverines finished their last game of the season this past Friday, as they took on private Catholic school Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic, who finished 11-11 (7-3) on the season in WPIAL 3A Section 2 conference. CWNC's game plan coming into the first round playoff game was to keep the Wolverines out of the paint with their stingy zone defense, only giving up 46 points per game. Although the Wolverines handled the zone defense fairly well and shot over 40% from 3 and from the field, the Trojans offense could not be stopped - shooting over 60% from the field throughout the game. In the end, the Wolverines lost the first round game 67-53 and were eliminated from the playoffs.

Another great season including a bunch of great seniors, several double-doubles, great 3-point shooting, a 1,000 point scorer, and a winning record on the season are only a few of the accolades that were accomplished during the long-enduring season.

Below are the final standings, stats, schedule results, and information for the Boys basketball team.
