With the last week now in the books, below are the teams that will represent the 2A Classification in playoffs. The top 4 teams from each conference are selected and seeded based upon record, conference record, and the WPIAL committee. Below are the teams that have clinched.

  • Allegheny: Shady Side Academy, Steel Valley, Avonworth, East Allegheny

  • Interstate: Washington, Charleroi, McGuffey, Beth-Center

  • Midwestern: Freedom, Mohawk, New Brighton, Riverside

  • Three Rivers: Burgettstown, South Side Beaver, Serra Catholic, Seton LaSalle

Based upon those teams making it into playoffs, here is a quick prediction (Monday will be selection night) of where the teams will be seeded based upon the regular season play, ranked in order from left to right.

  • #1 Seeds: Shady Side Academy (9-0), Burgettstown (9-0), Washington (9-1), Mohawk (8-2)

  • #2 Seeds: Steel Valley (8-1), Charleroi (8-1), Freedom (9-1), South Side Beaver (7-3)

  • #3 Seeds: McGuffey (8-2), Avonworth (7-3), Serra Catholic (6-4), New Brighton (5-5)

  • #4 Seeds: Beth-Center (7-3), Riverside (6-3), East Allegheny (6-4), Seton LaSalle (5-5)

The WPIAL committee reserves the right to rank the teams after the conference champions (or conference leaders) in any order they like (i.e. Riverside could be a 3 seed over New Brighton even though New Brighton beat Riverside based upon both teams record).

We will keep you up to date on Monday after the pairings and selections have been made. Catch all the action for playoffs and our predictions and reports about 2A MAC teams in the upcoming week. Also, be on the look out for an EC Wolverines Season in Review for the football team on our blog page.
