PIAA Championship Games are set - WPIALS with 4 teams
Class 6A - Finals
St. Joseph's Prep (13-0) vs. Pittsburgh Central Catholic (14-1) - Saturday 8PM
Outcome: PCC looks in great shape after their 63-21 win over Wilson. St. Joseph's Prep came from behind with a 21-point onslaught in the fourth quarter to prevail over North Penn. I don't see this one different for PCC as they should win convincingly in the end. I'll take Pittsburgh Central Catholic for the 6A PIAA Title.
Class 5A - Finals
Harrisburg (11-3) vs. Archbishop Wood (10-2) - Friday 7PM
Outcome: Talk about a big weekend for Penn State - recruit Micah Parsons looked great against West A's defense as Harrisburg won big 42-10. Archbishop Wood had a great semifinal as well dominating Academy Park upfront, winning 37-0. Not sure 100% what team we will see for Harrisburg, but if it was anything like the semifinals, my bet is on Harrisburg to prevail. I'll take Harrisburg for the 5A PIAA Title.
Class 4A - Finals
Cathedral Prep (13-0) vs. Imhotep Charter (13-0) - Thursday 7PM
Outcome: Battle of the undefeated as it should be. Imhotep Charter won once again as they defeated Bethlehem Catholic 24-13 with 31 combined points being scored in the second quarter. Cathedral Prep bullied the line of scrimmage against Berks Catholic, scoring 14 points in the second quarter to prevail 28-14. I still like how dominate Cathedral Prep has been all year on both sides of the ball. I'll take Cathedral Prep for the 4A PIAA Title.
Class 3A - Semifinals
Middletown (14-0) vs. Beaver Falls (12-1) - Saturday 3:30PM
Outcome: The story continues as Beaver Falls wins 14-7 over Central and somehow gets past Central's stingy defense. Middletown made short order of Notre Dame-Green Pond as they won 49-10. This final will be based upon Beaver Falls offense versus Middletown's defense again. If BF can break through early, then they may have a shot, though I think I'll swing my vote. I'll take Middletown for the 3A PIAA Title.
Class 2A - Semifinals
Steel Valley (16-0) vs. Southern Columbia Area (16-0) - Saturday 11AM
Outcome: This may be the big match-up once again. Another pairing of undefeated, both at 16 wins. Steel Valley crushed Wilmington 49-13. Southern Columbia held on 31-27 to beat Ligonier Valley. Both teams can score and both teams can play defense. However, there is NO WAY of stopping Steel Valley's speed so I'll take the hottest team and take the Ironmen (no pun intended). I'll take Steel Valley for the 2A PIAA Title.
Class A - Semifinals
Clairton (16-0) vs. Bishop Guilfoyle (14-0) - Friday 1 PM
Outcome: 2014 implications once again, though I think this one will be flipped. Clairton handled Farrell 24-6 and Bishop Guilfoyle crushed underdog Steelton-Highspire 48-6. With that being said, this game will depend on Lamont Wade who has had a great season. I like Clairton to come out fast and try to revenge their 15-14 loss back in 2014. I'll take Clairton for the A PIAA title.
